Environmental
Policies and Practices |
Building Materials: We use products when specifications allow that have been recycled and remanufactured into quality building materials. Example: Particleboard, High-pressure laminate, chip board. All waste material are recycled and shipped to respective mills that reuse the materials and put it back in production of other products. Wood products are unique in a way the byproducts or waste products are reusable and can be incorporated in other useful products. Therefore cutting the waste of our National Forest by two third and allowing more trees to grow than before. Our National Forests are a valuable resource and need to be managed by recycling.
Hazardous waste: ILF uses small amounts of hazardous materials. The materials are stored in environmentally safe containers to prevent spills. The small amount of waste products that ILF produces is properly contained and transported by a licensed transport vehicle. The waste products are sent to a recycling facility and recycled.
Finishing: All finishing materials are HAPS compliant and meet the National Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants Emissions for Wood Furniture Manufacturing Operations CFR40, Part 63, and Subpart JJ. We are also compliant with all National Environmental Protection Agency requirements for a Manufacturing Facility.
Water: ILF does not use water in the manufacturing process therefore does not produce wastewater. ILF does take the steps to filter air to protect the ground water from run-off from rain. Rainwater run-off is the only water discharged from International Library Furniture.
Shipping Materials: ILF uses only recycled cardboard, packing paper when crating products for shipping. The wooden crate is completely recyclable. ILF mainly ships blanket wrapped trucks, which does not produce any waste of National Forestry Products.
Right to Know: ILF complies with the Right to Know Laws for employees and customers concerning chemicals contained and used in the production of our products. Material Safety Data Sheets are available upon request for all materials contained and used in the products manufactured by International Library Furniture.
International Library Furniture is a firm believer and participant in protecting today's environment. ILF feels the need to protect the environment for the children of future generations. Lets all recycle and help save the planet. |
